Our Story.
NOKTA Outdoors was born from a shared passion for archery, the outdoors, and a belief that our community deserved something more.
The story begins in 2019, when Sab Rose, a retired Canadian Navy veteran, and Jason McLean, a business owner and custom apparel manufacturer, first connected through the archery community. What started as conversations about tournaments, equipment, and custom jerseys quickly evolved into a friendship built on shared values, mutual respect, and a love for the outdoors.
Over the years, those conversations became a weekly tradition. While they often started with archery tournaments, industry trends, apparel, and the opportunities they saw within the sport, they naturally evolved into discussions about business, family, life experiences, and the outdoors. Although they came from different backgrounds and different parts of Canada, they quickly realized it wasn't just archery that connected them—it was a shared passion for the outdoors and the lifestyle that comes with it. Through those conversations, they also recognized a gap. While archery has a passionate and growing community, there were very few lifestyle brands built specifically for the people who live and breathe the sport both on and off the range.
Sab's story began in Brockville, Ontario, where life revolved around the water. Growing up along the St. Lawrence River, he developed a deep appreciation for nature, responsibility, and the outdoors from an early age. Before serving his country, Sab spent his younger years navigating tour boats through the world-famous 1000 Islands, gaining an intimate connection to the waterways, wildlife, and outdoor lifestyle that would stay with him throughout his life. Those experiences were later complemented by a distinguished career in the Canadian Navy, where he developed the leadership, discipline, resilience, and commitment to service that continue to influence everything he does today.
Jason's story began in Sault Ste Marie/Elliot Lake in Northern Ontario, where he grew up on the rugged shores of Lake Superior. Life was spent exploring forests, rocky shorelines, trails, and the endless wilderness that makes Northern Ontario unique. Growing up on the largest freshwater lake in the world instilled a lifelong appreciation for adventure, nature, and the outdoors. As an entrepreneur, Jason would go on to build several businesses, including W10 Archery Jerseys, a company dedicated to helping archers, clubs, schools, and organizations across North America express their identity through custom apparel. Through years of working directly with the archery community, he witnessed both the passion that exists within the sport and the lack of authentic lifestyle products created specifically for archers.
From the waterways of the 1000 Islands to the rugged shores of Lake Superior, NOKTA Outdoors is built on Canadian roots, lifelong outdoor experiences, and a shared passion for the archery community.
As their friendship grew, so did the idea of creating something together. They envisioned a brand that extended beyond competition apparel and tournament weekends. They wanted to build a brand that represented the lifestyle surrounding archery—the early mornings on the range, road trips to tournaments, evenings around a campfire with friends, weekends exploring new places, and the countless memories made outdoors.
From that vision, NOKTA Outdoors was created.
NOKTA is more than a clothing brand. It represents patience, focus, craftsmanship, adventure, and connection. It is for people who appreciate the outdoors, value quality, and understand that the journey is often more important than the destination. Every product is designed to reflect the lifestyle shared by archers, outdoor enthusiasts, adventurers, and those who simply feel most at home outside.
